UX-Design and Research, Prototyping
Teachers face a recurring challenge every school year: learning the names of dozens of new students quickly. For this self-initiated UX challenge, I designed vorna, a concept app that helps teachers match names to faces faster.
I did secondary research (competitor apps, reviews, and teacher forums) to understand the problem space, then sketched paper wireframes and user flows before building an interactive prototype in Figma.
The Approach
The core idea is based on the Leitner flashcard system: teachers are quizzed on student names and photos, sorted into five boxes by how well they know each name. Names in Box 1 are reviewed daily, while names in Box 5 — the ones a teacher already knows well — only come up every 16 days. Correct answers move a name forward a box; incorrect ones move it back. This spaced-repetition logic keeps teachers focused on the names they actually struggle with, instead of re-testing ones they already know.
This was mainly an exercise to get hands-on with Figma and prototyping — I didn't run user testing here, since it wasn't the goal of the challenge and I didn't have test participants (teachers) available at the time. In my more recent projects, like AirQ, testing is a core part of my process.
